This is how the whole room feels.
You’re across the hall. i can hear the electronic razor hum
into action, find it’s voice among the tired bathroom walls. it
tells me with each tone it’s movements as it traces the curves
of your jaw– zip, zip zip. i’m sitting here in place like a doll,
waiting for you to bring me to life again. Every touch is vital.
Baby doll shoes & messy hair; this is how i know that i love
you. This. Just the way this room feels without you in it.
Nevermind the fact that you’re so close.
You clear your throat. The shower head screeches as you
coax it to work. i can see you there; wet hair hanging on your
forehead, your body exposed & true. To me it’s something
insane; that someone like you could love me the way you
do. Maybe God doesn’t hate me afterall. Pull the shower
curtain back, ignore the mindless infomercials preaching from
the television in the next room. it’s a different world than the
one in which we live. Maybe this means nothing but i’d like
to think we’d hold it higher. This sort of moment, action. No supermodels or glitter or fake feelings.
We’re raw & we’ll always be that way.
