you get in my mind like
blue & red stars;
like the sun & the moon &

everything else you can’t touch-
in a dream

you came as clear as
icicles &
just as promising.
your words envelope me like
the load we carry.
sky fades to sunset again
as indicated
& we are no longer strangers,
we are lovers, now.

then you get in my mind like
the river does;
flowing forward, always
with the movement-
i saw you again.
deep water rising
not drowning but
breathing, somehow
& the geese
were silly stragglers,
misplaced winter,
they forgot themselves too
maybe just as lost
as we are
sometimes.

you get in my mind like
the best kind of magic trick;
like the forgotten dreams &
the passing trains –

ripping through the city;
they stop for no one.
we long to be so free
but
the world requires
so much now.
time has passed. we grow old.
but those pink dreams
live on somehow,
or maybe somewhere.
lost in memory.
we will move on
together.
